Del. school board eyes charter school issues
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Charter schools promise to be a major topic of discussion at this month’s meeting of Delaware’s state board of education. Action items for Thursday’s school board meeting in Dover include several new charter school applications, a request for modification of an existing charter and decisions on formal reviews of three existing schools.

Indiana panel taking up school standards debate
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Education Roundtable is set to review proposed school benchmarks meant to replace the national Common Core standards.

“Common core” education task force to meet
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A task force established by Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy to review the rollout of Common Core education standards is meeting. The group is charged with identifying challenges and gaps in preparing for Common Core, a new set of college and career-ready standards for students in grades K-12 that focus on English language, arts, literacy and math. Malloy established the task force last month after he said teachers and education professionals raised “legitimate concerns” about how preparations for the standards incorporated in the teaching curriculum have been uneven.
